Please let us know of any navigational hazards you encounter while on the water in Brazoria County.
Please be advised, the US Coast Guard issues a Broadcast Notice to Mariners on VHF Channel 22 and you should listen to this information PRIOR to leaving the dock, and occasionally while underway so you are aware of any lights, beacons, or bouys that may be out, or missing, and any other navigational hazards in your area.
Stay informed, your passengers lives depend on it!
Rescue 21 is the United States Coast Guard’s advanced command, control and communications system created to improve the ability to assist mariners in distress and save lives and property at sea. The system is currently being installed in stages across the United States.
The Houston/Galveston area was accepted into the program in October, 2008. MMSI # 003669907
Digital Selective Calling is all that is needed for you to benefit from Rescue 21 if properly registered with a Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) number and interfaced with GPS or Loran.
In an emergency, with one push of a button, your DSC radio will send an automated digital distress alert containing your MMSI number, position, and the nature of distress (if entered) to other DSC-equipped vessels and rescue facilities within a range of 20nm.
You may obtain a FREE MMSI Number from either of the following links:
